ITT World Championship

Written by Canadian Nippon at 02:12 4/11-2021

A few hours after our last press release and the news about the team climbing the ranks to division one for the first time in the team history; the new must have been bitter sweet for Abel Frint as the young Canadian rider would pick up an injury during the Aalborg Time trials and now would be ruled out of the ITT World Championship.

"Yeah, It was very disappointing to learn that today that I would be ruled out of the ITT Championship after picking up the injury but in hindsight I also didn`t know about the entry until after the injury so I am not sure it is as disappointing had I known before the race and the injury." Commented the Young Canadian. "Emotions are always all over the place when you pickup an injury and disappoint is one of them but I am also very happy for the team since getting a chance to even race in the ITT World Championship is an accomplishment for the whole team to be proud of. A lot of guys on the team had a great season and to see the group be reward for the efforts is fantastic. I also learned that I will technical speaking still be taking part in the ITT World Championship since I was already signed up for the event so I will be able to ride the course at least and hopefully finish; but it is different then trying for a Result and the World Championship jersey." Added the Canadian rider clearly looking at the teams overall progress and not his own situation.

It was clearly a blow the team chance of claiming the ITT World Championship Jersey since Abel Frint was one of the teams favorite once announced that they would be taking part.

"No, I don`t think he was one of the favorites heading into the race. We joined last second so we were also going to be one the back foot entering the race. And I am not concerned if we have a great result during the event or not as I am more disappointed and concerned about the health of the rider." commented Canadian Nippon Team manager when asked about his rider losing a chance at winning the ITT World Championship. "I was happy with the way the race played out with Connan Guillot being very impressive in finishing fifth in the race as that was completely unexpected. Must also mention the great ride by Due since he also finished in the top twenty in a race we didn`t prepare for." finished Bouchard; the Canadian Nippon Manager.

As mentioned by Frint; the team had a great season with two wins and seventeen offical results, not to mention many more top ten finishes. Irving Watts once again lead the way of the team while taking less the of lead this season with 1 win, 4 results and 5 top ten results.

Abel Frint was the other rider to collect a win this season along with two other results and no other top ten results.

Boris Bitao and Connan Guillot lead the next wave of rider with 0 wins, 3 results and Guillot had 5 top ten while Bitao was less impressive with a 1 top ten result.

Andre Due, Roland Kilgore and current team jobber Marlon Suydam all finish the season with a single result with Suydam come before being signed up by the Canadian team. Due added another 5 top ten results while only had 1 top ten.

It was a good season but don`t expect much of the same next season as explained by the team manager," We pushed the teams hard this year and while we had a ton of success. It wasn`t really health for the riders with a few of them picking up injuries due to fatigue. Case and point is Frint at the end of the season. So expect us to try to race more targeted events with better rested riders and hopefully this will result in more; stronger results then the blanket racing that we did this season. It will be tough since I know the boys like to race and I feel like I am not doing my job if I am not signing them up for races that they have chance at results in."

We are hours away from entering the new season and we are looking forward to the further progress that Canadian Nippon can make this season.

Shame on the injury for the ITT WC. Good luck next season and in joining Div1 full time!

Canadian Nippon at 12:25 4/11-2021
Thank you!! It was brief but a taste is better then nothing sometimes. Make me realize that I am not that far off either of actually being a full time member of D1. Just a bit more luck and more riders that can score points.
